Collection: Learning guitar - Level 6
Completing level 6 of the road amp for learning guitar, makes you ready for becoming a beginning Jazz or Fusion guitarist, with enough knowledge to start playing Jazz, Fusion and Progressive Rock.
Rhythm
You’ll expand on the odd time signature exercises and study poly rhythms
Chords and harmony
You’ll study the Jazz Blues progression and other advanced progressions and cadences. You’ll start with 7th chord inversions and learn about drop 2 voicings that are common in Jazz.
In this level you will learn the most common modulation techniques.
Scales
You’ll learn the modes of the major scale and essence and importance of this concept. You also learn other scales like the dominant pentatonic scale, the bebop scale and the Super Blues scale.
Technique and improvisation
Improvise with modes for instance over the ii-V-I. Learn to use modal arpeggios and learn to superimpose scales and arpeggios for modal applications. Learn to improvise over the Jazz Blues.
Picking technique
In this level you’ll study the sweep picking technique that can useful for slow and fast playing of arpeggios.
Arpeggios
In level we look at the special arpeggios like the minMaj7 arpeggio, Dom7#11 arpeggio, Dom7#5 arpeggio, add9 arpeggios and wide interval arpeggios.
You learn about the power triad pairs for modal improvising.
Finger-style
In this level you’ll explore alternative fingerstyle techniques, like incorporating percussive elements and slap-technique. You’ll be playing higher level classical and modern solo guitar pieces.
Theory
Learn about chord substitutions like the tritone substitution, learn wat superimposing means and does. Learn the essence of the modes of the major scale and about the Dorian Brightness Quotient. Learn about chromatic mediants and how to use them.
Reading music
Elaborate on the techniques from the previous levels.
