Exploring the vast landscape of scales and modes we’ll find the so called “Dominant pentatonic scale”. It’s one of the many variations of the pentatonic scale, which main characteristic is that it has only 5 notes.

There are two types of the dominant pentatonic scales that are often confused. Those are the “Dominant pentatonic scale” itself and the “Mixolydian pentatonic scale”. Both scales are derived from the Mixolydian scale, that we know as the 5th mode of the major scale.

Both pentatonic scales are mainly used over dominant and altered chords. In the next chapters of this e-book you learn all about the two types of the scale and how to apply them in your improvisations.

The scales create tension and character! The e-book is supported by audio examples and backing tracks.
