A time ago Pat Martino found a shortcut to overcome this problem of complexity by converting everything to minor and in this way drastically simplifying Jazz improvisation. Don’t be mislead by the word “simplifying”, because the result is nothing less than a mature and rich Jazz sound.

Pat Martino called his way of thinking “Minor Conversions” and described this in his book “Linear Expressions” that was published in 1989 and is since considered as a unique approach to modern Jazz improvisation.
