The whole tone scale is an a-typical scale that is often associated with outside sounds in Jazz, fusion and progressive Rock. It is also a very versatile scale that can be found in many
styles, from impressionist compositions to Stevie Wonder to the inimitable virtuous sounds of Alan Holdsworth solos and… everything in between.
In this lesson you will learn all about this whole tone scale and you will learn to use the
scale in a musical manner so you can create whole tone licks and whole tone music with
confidence.
For that we’ll dive deep into this scale and its theory to understand the scale and get a hold of its sound. We look at remarkable chords that are present in the scale and we’ll see how to use these chords when comping or soloing over different chords in different situations.
