Collection: Learning guitar - Level 5

In this level (and the next) of playing guitar you’ll go beyond Pop and Rock and lean towards Jazz, Progressive Rock and Fusion. The guitar techniques and music theory will expand to more complex concepts.

Rhythm
You’ll explore odd time signatures and compound rhythms. You’ll combine 16 notes and triplets and start with syncopated triplets.
Chords and harmony
You will play 7th chords in movable shapes and learn about extended chord shapes like 9th, 11th and 13th chords. You’ll practice these chords with low level Jazz Standards
Scales
You’ll learn all diatonic scale patterns and change the minor diatonic scale patterns into harmonic minor scale patterns.
Technique and improvisation
Improvise using chord extensions as colour and tension tones. Step up with improvising over the ii-V-I with the things you’ve learned.
Learn to tap over multiple strings and odd-time tapping licks. 
Learn diatonic wide interval scale patterns (string skipping).
Picking technique
Get familiar with the economy picking technique and learn about pinched and artificial harmonics.
Arpeggios
Learn half diminished and diminished arpeggio shapes and learn more shapes for the maj7, dom7 and min7 chords. Learn how to implement these arpeggios in music. 
Finger-style
Start with learning the hybrid picking technique and learn to pay more advanced classical music. Learn the tremolo and Rasguado technique.
Theory
In this level you’ll learn about the CAGED system, about relative minor and major diatonic scales and elaborate on the harmonic chord functions. You learn about importance of the tritone and the secondary dominant.
You’ll also learn to create Circle Progressions.
Reading music
Reading notes in the 7th position and reading 3-voice parts. Learn reading music with a Bass Clef.
