Collection: Learning guitar - Level 3
In level 3 of playing guitar, you'll learn everything you need for playing many simple and intermediate Pop and Rock songs. You will also get to know more advanced techniques that are typical for the guitar. Everything you've learned in the previous two levels moves up a step.
Rhythm
Not-syncopated 16th notes building block for strumming and single note riffs. You’ll learn right and left hand muting and you’ll learn about the After Beat.
Chords and harmony
You’ll start with bar-chords by means of the maj7, dom7 and min7 chords. We’ll also look at the popular slash chords.
The power chords level up and you’ll play more advanced power chord riffs.
You’ll learn triads and their in versions for Pop and Rock style progressions
Scales
In this level you’ll learn all 5 pentatonic scale patterns and the Blues scale and other pentatonic embellishments.
Technique and improvisation
Learn techniques like vibrato, natural harmonics, combining different legato techniques and gaining left hand speed.
You’ll also learn to mix major and minor pentatonic scales over a 12-bar Blues.
Picking technique
You learn to use more advanced muting techniques and you will practice 16th note patterns and riffs without syncopation. In this level it’s important to gain speed by doing progressive exercises.
Arpeggios
This is the first level in which you will start with straightforward triad arpeggios over 3 strings.
Finger-style
You’ll be learning the Travis picking pattern and play double stops with two fingers. You going to use the hammer-on and pull-off technique in the fingerstyle patterns
Theory
After studying the pentatonic scales in level 1 and 2 it’s now time to learn about the diatonic major scale structure.
You’ll learn about intervals and building triads.
Reading music
Reading notes in the 2nd position and reading two voices simultaneously.
