Collection: Learning guitar - Level 2
After the entry level it’s time to level up and elaborate on the things you’ve learned in level 1. You are still learning the basics, but the things you play are more interesting and recognizable. In this level you’ll learn a few songs and your playing will benefit from the exercises and new techniques that you will learn in this level.

You’ll learn the essentials of the 6/8 time signature and start with syncopated rhythms for strumming and single note riffs. You also learn about the dotted note and its meaning.
Chords and harmony
You will play more advanced open chords like sus-chords and add9-chords. You will also play chords that have no common fingering.
In this level you’ll get acquainted with the popular power chords and you’ll learn about the 12-bar Blues.
Scales
The first pattern (pattern 4 of the CAGED system) is now extended to higher positions. You will also learn a second pattern: the first pattern in the CAGED system.
Technique and improvisation
You’ll start with more complete sounding pentatonic solos that incorporate bend and slide technique and simple legato playing with the hammer-on and pull-off.
Picking technique
You’ll learn syncopated alternate picking patterns and the so-called galop-rhythm. You’ll also start with palm muting.
Arpeggios

Finger-style
You’ll play the same techniques from level one but now the notes are played simultaneously. You’ll also start to use the ring finger in this level.
