Collection: Learning guitar - Level 1
This is the entry level where you'll start to learn playing the guitar. You'will learn your posture, basic techniques and gradually get acquainted with the different aspects that you will encounter when learning to play any instrument.
Rhythm
Strumming basic rhythms and playing single note melodies in quarter notes and eight notes.
Chords & harmony
Open chords with common fingering for easy changes: C, D, Dm, E, E7, Em, Fmaj7, G, A, Am, B7
Scales
First pentatonic scale pattern (pattern 4 in the CAGED system)
Technique and improvisation
Learn about body and hand posture sitting and standing up. Learning left hand posture and left hand finger movement.
Start with very basic pentatonic solos without bending or slides. Playing the pentatonic scale up and down over a backing track to create your own melody.
Picking technique
Learn about picking hand posture and basic alternate picking.
Arpeggios
No arpeggios in this level.
Fingerstyle
Right hand posture for fingerstyle technique. Basic fingerstyle patterns using the thumb, index finger and middle finger, without simultaneous played notes.
Theory
Learn the names of the string and learn about the parts of the guitar and their function.
Learn to tune the guitar.
Reading music
Reading notes in the first position on string 1,2 and 3. Reading rhythmic patterns with quarter and eight notes in basic time signatures.
